1. Curriculum model for instruction: The instructional materials for KESC tutoring Model are based on a combination of the strengths of the several learning Tutoring Systems and academic performance improvement strategies developed by the best researchers in the field of education.
2. Students’ needs are assessed and diagnosedusing Brain Child assessment tools for both summative and diagnostic assessments, and in-house tools to determine the impact of its tutoring strategies on the learning.
3. The needs of each student will be addressed using KESC Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment in Reading and Math administered at the beginning of tutoring term to provide estimate of competency level, guide instruction and design of each student’s tutoring need in the content area.
4. Services offered will improve student achievement by using over 20 academic performance improvements (API) strategies and hands-on-learning activities to help each child learn independently. This has been shown to improve the achievement of 86% of participants.
5. Program is in alignment with the School District’s Curriculum and the PA Standards. The accelerated math and Reading programs are completely in alignment with the school curriculum and State standard and are used to reinforce the content behind the state standards.
6. Communication with Parents isby providing a monthly parent-tutor academic advising session to review academic progress, set academic goals and action steps to achieve those goals; monthly written communications are sent home to update each parent of the child’s performance. KESC also offers the following services to assist parents and to ensure that the child’s needs are addressed as a community effort: Parental community activities, Child Mentoring Program , Parents open forum, and Family Counseling .

Must take direct responsibilities of his/her learning in and outside classrooms
Must be committed to the tutoring goals set for his/her academic growth and proficiency and willing to make the efforts required to reach those goals
Must be willing to engage and apply the strategies and processes that promote understanding of concepts and applications of important skills
Must be committed to the 4-Step Problem Solving strategies
Must be fully committed to spending appropriate degree of extra time to study in and outside classroom
Parent's Responsibilities to increase tutoring benefits
Must play the role of supporting the child’s learning.
Must be fully involved in the child’s education to maximize academic growth
Must become familiar with the tutoring plan and what the child is expected to learn.
Must attend parent-teacher interviews, participate in parent workshops and center activities
Must encourage the child to complete all assigned tutoring and classroom activities
Must be fully committed to KESC goals of helping the child achieve proficiency and academic independence in the shortest possible time
