Family Programs

Parental Involvement

Parental activities (such as picnics and workshops) are sponsored to enhance a parent’s ability to monitor their child’s academic performance and assist with college planning. Family nights are sponsored at the end of each term to reward and celebrate students’ successes and motivate continuous high performance.

College Awareness Programs

This offering is designed to increase students’ early awareness of college careers and provide informal experiences that promote an expectation for excellence and an interest in a college degree; it helps students take career interest inventories through guest speakers and discuss financial aid options.

Workshops and Seminars

Series of workshops and seminars of 1-4 hours in duration are offered to assist parents in the education of their kids. Specific workshops/seminars include:

  • Academic Monitoring Seminar uses KESC Monitoring Card to enhance a parent’s ability to monitor their child’s academic performance and assist with college planning. The following seminars are offered:
  • College Funding Sources seminars to help parents plan early for college funding of their child education
  • Child Mentoring program to help parents learning strategies for helping their children focus on their studies and possible careers of interest
  •  Parent Community Seminars are series of weekend or evening Parent-to-Parent open forum that allows parents to share their experiences to help other parents guide their children toward academic performance. Parents also give feedback to KESC on its services and how to better serve the community.

Parent Counseling in dealing with challenges and learning difficulties in children and how to control those difficulties.
