Mathematics Program

Middle School & Junior High Math

According to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), students solidify conceptions about themselves as learners of mathematics in the middle grades. This usually represents a critical turning point in their lives. The math intuition, interest, and talent discovered in pre-K- 5th grades are further enriched and expanded from the 6th to 8th grade years. KESC Tutoring Program provide students in the middle grades a balanced mathematics program that encompasses all state standards, including significant amounts of algebra and geometry to ensure mastery of the following units within those standards:
  • Pre-Algebra
    • Addition and Subtraction
    • Time and Money
    • Measurement
    • Multiplication and Division
    • Graphing Lines
    • Ratio, Proportion and Percent
    • Algebraic Reasoning
    • Fractions,
    • Integers and Exponents
    • Rational and real numbers
    • Plane Geometry
    • Area, Perimeter and Volume
    • Fractions and Decimals
    • Proportional reasoning,
    • Probability and Statistics
    • Linear equations and inequalities.
  • Number Theory:
    • Prime and composite numbers,
    • divisors, product of divisors,
    • unit digits, repeat decimals, Sequence and functions
    • Polynomial
    • Set Theory and discrete math

KESC uses in-house and state approved assessment tools to determine the student's competency in math, the impact of KESC tutoring strategies on the student’s learning, and continuous academic proficiency in math. See more details of KESC plan for Cognitive Diagnostics Assessment

CALL KESC at 412 894-8595 or email info@kanmaseducation.org for more details. We Guarantee that 45 hours of KESC tutoring will change your child's math skills for life.
